Fresh bearings, same smooth steering

All Cane Creek headset bearings are sealed cartridge bearings, and they're interchangeable between Cane Creek headset series. Match the size and angle, drop the new bearing in, and you're done.

Choose from Forty zinc-coated steel, Hellbender stainless steel, and lightweight Hellbender Lite hybrids, plus kits for specific Specialized and Crux/Invert setups.

The Inside Line:
A gritty headset is usually just a tired bearing. Swap it for a Hellbender and your old Forty headset gets a proper upgrade for the price of a decent lunch.

Notes:

Compatibility with other brands' headsets isn't guaranteed.
Forty ZN40 bearings can feel slightly rough by hand straight out of the box; they smooth out once installed and preloaded.
Bearings without a Dirt Works part number are ordered in on request.

How to pick the right bearing:

Match the outside diameter (e.g. 41, 41.8, 47, 52mm) and the angles (36x45 or 45x45) of the bearing you're replacing - they're usually printed on the bearing.
BAA2297 is a drop-in upgrade for FSA IS42/IS52 headsets (common on current Specialized mountain bikes) and works with the existing cover and compression ring; a sealed crown race is included.
The 52mm 45x45 Hellbender bearing suits Specialized MTBs (lower, with the stock 45 degree crown race), Canyon gravel and MTBs, and most MTB lower bearings.
