Cane Creek Hellbender 70 Lite Headset

All the Hellbender durability, a lot less weight

The Cane Creek Hellbender 70 Lite uses hybrid aluminium/steel Hellbender LITE bearings that are 30% lighter than conventional headset bearings, plus a preload assembly that's half the weight of the standard parts.

The result is a ZS set at around 90 g and an IS set at around 54 g, with an alloy dual-seal crown race and the same Chroma Studio colours as the Hellbender 70.

The Inside Line:
Built for the weight weenie at heart but still wants a headset that lasts. It's light enough for an XC or gravel race build and tough enough that you won't be replacing it next season.

How to find your headset size:

Cane Creek use the S.H.I.S. code, e.g. ZS44/28.6 | ZS56/40. The part before the bar is the top of the headset, the part after it is the bottom.
The letters tell you how the cup sits: IS = integrated (the bearing drops straight into the frame), ZS = zero stack (a cup pressed inside the head tube), EC = external cup (the cup sits outside the head tube).
The first number is the head tube bore in mm (e.g. 44 or 56).
The second number is the steerer size it fits: 25.4 or 26 = 1", 28.6 or 30 = 1-1/8", 33 = 1-1/4", 38.1 or 40 = 1.5" (tapered forks are 1-1/8" at the top and 1.5" at the bottom).
