e*thirteen Sidekick Rear Hub

The hub that lets your suspension do its job

e*thirteen Sidekick hubs are anti-kickback hubs. When you stop pedalling, a pusher-activated magnetic pawl system fully disconnects the drivetrain from the rear wheel, so chain tension stops fighting your rear suspension. You get near-zero freewheel drag, near-silent coasting and a back end that moves freely over rough ground.

The deadband is adjustable tool-free: 9° for fast engagement on climbs, or 13° and 18° for maximum anti-kickback on descents (Sidekick and Sidekick Pro). They say BYB Telemetry testing showed up to 44% more time in the optimal 11-70% travel range.

The Inside Line:
Pedal kickback is that tug you feel through the cranks every time your bike sucks up a big hit. Sidekick gets rid of it, so your legs stay fresh and you look smoother than you probably are.
