The finish might be new, but the Cura 4’s performance is well proven. From everyday trail riding to downhill race tracks and burly freeride missions, the four-piston calipers offer stacks of usable power and heaps of modulation.
 
Kashima coating is a proprietary hard-anodized finish developed and applied exclusively by the Miyaki Company in Japan. The benefits of the gold-like finish are enhanced lubrication and a harder-wearing surface, which means reduced friction, smoother performance and a longer lifespan. This is why these brakes are more expensive than the regular Cura 4 - each brake has to be shipped to Japan to be anodized in-house by the Miyaki company.

Formula's use of the Kashima coating with Miyaki Company isn’t new. Since 2021, our motorcycle department has applied this Japanese coating to our Tech Suspension products. After years of experience working with Miyaki Company, we decided to apply the Kashima coating to the Cura 4, where it matters most. By reducing friction on the master cylinder piston, the coating delivers smoother performance while giving the brake its distinctive look.

The Inside Line:
The no compromise brake just got better coming with internal and external kashima coating, brake feel adjustment lever, and both sintered and organic brake pads. A brake that is ready out of the packet regardless how you intend to ride.
