Hope Tech Evo GR4 Brake

Big power, beautifully behaved

The Tech Evo GR4 is Hope's four-piston gravity brake, built for steep, fast terrain and heavy e-bikes. It pairs the new Tech Evo lever with the GR4 caliper. A staggered piston layout gives about 6% more power than the Tech 4 V4 it replaces, and it's all CNC-machined in Hope's Barnoldswick factory.

The Evo lever brings a reworked cam, a bigger hook on the blade and a bleed port on the master cylinder. That means more grip on the lever, a quicker bite and an easier time in the workshop.

Technologies:
Cam Mechanism
A redesigned cam cuts down the dead stroke before the pads bite. You get a slightly firmer bite point, then a smooth rise in power through the braking zone, so modulation stays front and centre.

Twin Guide Bush Piston
The roller bearing pivot carries over from the Tech 4, and a second guide bush now keeps the main piston running dead straight. The result is a silky lever stroke from start to finish.

Lid-Free Bleed Port
A dedicated bleed port on the master cylinder lets you bleed without taking the lid off. Internal ports have been reshaped to stop air getting trapped, and the classic open bleed is still there for the perfectionists.

The Inside Line:
Hope took everything people loved about the Tech 4 V4, gave it more grunt and sorted the ergonomics. Plenty of power without the on/off grab, and a lever feel you'll actually want to brag about at the trailhead. Flow mountain bike reckon it took the crown as their favourite brake, and they don't hand that out lightly. Built to be rebuilt, not binned.

Lever Blade Options:

Standard (STD): a good balance of feel, power and adjustment. Fitted as standard
Power: for riders who run the lever further from the bar. Allows 5mm more outward adjustment, with a longer blade for extra leverage
Control: for riders who run the lever closer to the bar. Allows 5mm more inward adjustment, with a slightly shorter blade
