Intend Blackline Ebonite & Ebonite Bandit Fork

Intend's right-way-up forks, while they last

The Blackline Ebonite was Intend's answer to riders who love the Intend ride but want a conventional "right-way-up" fork: no worries about torsional stiffness and no exposed stanchions. The Ebonite Bandit takes it further with a one-and-a-half crown: a half upper crown on a longer left leg adds a big chunk of dual-crown stiffness without the full dual-crown weight.

Both share a double-wall steerer (6mm at the crown instead of 3mm, the same as the Flash) because the crown-steerer joint is where most forks flex and creak. Damping is Intend's shim-stack architecture with external low-speed adjusters and a long rubber bladder, and the uppers are double-butted with Intend's "Royal Flush" stanchion coating.

The Bandit adds a second positive air chamber run at higher pressure. The low first chamber keeps it supple off the top; the two then join to give a near-linear, coil-like spring for most of the stroke, and an adjustable stroke limiter lets you tune ramp-up in the last ~20mm.

These are discontinued models and we have limited stock: two Ebonite Bandits (160mm and 180mm) and one ex-demo Ebonite (180mm).

The Inside Line:
A rare chance to grab a properly exotic German fork. Once they're gone, they're gone, and you'll be the only one at the trailhead with a half crown.

• The Bandit's half crown limits steering lock to the left (right-hand turns are unaffected): check bar/frame clearance.

• Not compatible with the Travel Ranger air spring.

Setup:

• Air pressure: start at about 1.3 psi per kg rider weight for the Bandit. Guide: Intend Fork Setup Guide.
• Torques (Bandit upper crown): steerer 5Nm, legs 5Nm.
